The Duluth Superior Seaway Port is the western terminus of the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence Seaway, an independent shipping system that connects the Arrowhead Region to the Atlantic Ocean and world markets.

The Seaway Port has full service facilities for all saltwater and domestic shipping.  Approximately 48 million net tons of cargo passed through the Duluth Superior Seaway Port in 2007, the highest level of commerce since 1979.  More than 1,200 vessels visited the port that year.

The Duluth Superior Seaway Port is one of six Custom Ports of Entry in the region.  The others include the Grand Portage border crossing in Grand Portage, International Bridge at International Falls, the rail crossing at Rainer, Sky Harbor and Duluth International Airports in Duluth.
